This list offers 27 Adobe Fonts candidates to compare, not a ranking of the “best” fonts. Choose with real content, at real sizes, and with the faces and language coverage your project needs. The old title listed 28 while its description claimed 50; neither matched a useful evaluation.

Test before choosing

Use a heading, a paragraph, a label, numerals and punctuation. Check narrow widths and zoom, then compare the fallback font while the web font loads. Confirm web-use terms and the provider’s actual CSS family name rather than guessing from a display name.

The groups below are starting points for comparison. A family can serve more than one role; calling it a display candidate does not forbid another use.

Serif candidates

Georgia Pro

Georgia Pro. Compare its reading texture with a system serif.

Lora

Lora. Try a paragraph and a heading at your actual sizes.

Athelas

Athelas. Check long passages rather than a short specimen alone.

FF Tisa

FF Tisa. Inspect the available faces for your intended emphasis.

EB Garamond

EB Garamond. Compare small text and italic passages.

Sans-serif candidates

Futura PT

Futura PT. Test its geometric forms in labels and short headings.

Proxima Nova

Proxima Nova. Compare navigation and body text together.

Myriad

Open Sans

Open Sans. Compare paragraph wrapping with your fallback font.

Montserrat

Source Sans

Source Sans. Try a form with long labels and help text.

Lato

Lato. Compare ordinary reading text and heavier emphasis.

Raleway

Raleway. Check fine strokes and distinctive letters at small sizes.

Display candidates

Playfair Display

Playfair Display. Try a short heading, then inspect contrast at smaller sizes.

Oswald

Oswald. Check condensed headings and avoid assuming it suits long prose.

Nexa Rust

Nexa Rust. Use a short display sample to inspect its decorative detail.

Handwritten and informal candidates

Amatic

Amatic. Test short display text rather than essential small instructions.

FF Market

FF Market. Compare a short informal heading with a plain body face.

Verveine

Verveine. Inspect the handwritten forms; it is not a Renaissance serif.

GoodDog New

GoodDog New. Check readability before using informal lettering.

Chantal

Chantal. Inspect its handwritten style; the old serif description was incorrect.

Monospace candidates

Source Code

Source Code. Compare punctuation, digits and ambiguous characters in code.

Anonymous

Anonymous. Try a code sample with 0, O, 1, l and I.

Mono45 Headline

Mono45 Headline. Evaluate a short display heading before using it for code.

Courier

Courier. Compare its text density with a modern code face.

T.26 Carbon

T.26 Carbon. Inspect a specimen and confirm the faces you need.

A retained candidate outside the verified Adobe list

For Grand Hotel, inspect Google Fonts’ specimen and check its current availability and terms there. Its Adobe listing could not be confirmed, so it is separate from the 27 Adobe links above.

Connect the choice to CSS

Declaring a family does not download it by itself. Follow the provider’s loading instructions, supply an appropriate fallback, and request only the faces you need. See font-family, font-weight, and the font-display inspection. This article does not load 27 remote fonts into its examples merely to show a catalog.
