In macOS Ventura, you can turn off the setting that inserts a period when you press Space twice. This is an operating-system text-input preference, not an HTML or CSS feature.

Change the Ventura setting

  1. Open Apple menu → System Settings.
  2. Choose Keyboard.
  3. In Text Input, use Edit beside Input Sources.
  4. Turn off “Add period with double-space,” then finish the settings dialog.

Check the result

Type a short sentence and two spaces in a plain text field in an app that uses system substitutions. Confirm that the spaces remain as expected. An app may have its own text handling, so one code editor is not a universal test.
